The Reverend Canon Ruth M. Woodliff-Stanley was elected on Saturday, May 1, 2021, to be the fifteenth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina. On Friday, July 2, the Standing Committee was notified that the required majority of bishops and standing committees with jurisdiction have consented to her election.
The Service of Consecration for Bishop-elect Ruth Woodliff-Stanley will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Grace Church Cathedral in Charleston, South Carolina. Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry is planning to attend in person and serve as the chief consecrator.
