Thursday morning at the 8:00 Mass we celebrated the Annunciation of our Lord Jesus Christ to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This feast is celebrated, as you might imagine, the 25th of March, exactly 9 months prior to the Nativity. On this special feast we celebrate the revelation to Mary by the angel Gabriel that she would give birth to the Son of God. What exactly are we celebrating on this day? We are celebrating the fact that Mary was destined to become the Mother of God, the God-bearer. As with all saints, there are insights into Mary’s story that can have bearing in our lives.
