A Message from the Rector

A Message from the Rector:

January 30, 2023

Charles Stuart, King of England and Scotland, 1649

Dear Vestry,

After a great deal of thought and prayer, I am announcing that as of February 21, 2023, I will be retiring as the sixteenth Rector of the Church of the holy Communion.

Patty and I began to consider my retirement a number of months ago.  Each of us have spent time and prayer discerning when the time would be right.  As you might imagine in the beginning, we went back and forth.  But, as time went by, we began to know that we wanted to spend more time with our children and grandchildren and to give ourselves an opportunity to enjoy more time with each other.  We feel that it is time to begin the next chapter of our lives.

However, please know that we have both found it extremely difficult to leave our beloved Church of the Holy Communion ad the relationships and ministries we have shared for almost five years.

Of course, we will always remember the glorious liturgy and the music certainly, some of the most beautiful on the peninsula), but mostly we will miss you and the feeling of community here at this church.  Thank you for these years of happy memories and learning experiences together.

I will be working with Bishop Ruth and the Diocesan Office as well as the staff here at the Church of the Holy Communion for the next several weeks.

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has entered into the human heart,

the things, which God has prepared for those who love him.”

                                                                                                                              1 Corinthians 2

Prayerfully submitted,

Jeff 01.31.2023

A Message from our Senior Warden:

January 30, 2023

I’d like to give thanks to Father Jeff and Patty for their commitment and dedication to our congregation.  While we will miss them, we should rejoice in the time we had with them as well as their future endeavors.

Father Jeff and the Vestry will be working closely with The Bishop and the Canon to the Ordinary to find a short-term interim priest who will start Ash Wednesday.

Please feel free to reach out to Father Jeff or a member of the Vestry with any questions or concerns. I will update you as I receive new information.

Respectfully submitted,

Sherry Royster

Sr. Warden
