This Sunday, March 14, is called ‘Rose’ or ‘Refreshment’ or ‘Laetare’ Sunday, the mid-point in Lent. We ‘lighten up’ the penitential mood a bit with flowers and rose vestments before entering the weeks called Passiontide with their increased devotional intensity.
