Meandering of the Interim


A friend of mine, many years ago, reminded me of a fact that until he said I never considered. He told me “all clergy” are interims. I pondered this for a long time.  I always considered where I was serving would be the place God might have me stay.  Maybe I hoped that I would become the “beloved former Rector?”  Yet in all my calls, there would come a time when I would receive a call to another parish.  My friend was right, I have also followed a priest and another priest would take my place. It never mattered whether I had been there 5 or 10 years. It is a particular beauty of our system. (Unfortunately, no one ever said it would be a quick replacement.)
